A Thoughtful, Phased Transformation

Paragon 360 was honored to once again partner with Mid-Way Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina, as part of a carefully planned, multi-phase renovation of their worship environment. Building on an earlier renovation that included interior design, acoustical treatments, and new auditorium seating, this latest phase focused on transforming the platform experience through advanced video technology, improved sightlines, and a completely redesigned sound system.

The result is a modern, highly flexible worship environment that delivers greater visual impact, exceptional audio clarity, and a stronger experience for every person in the room—all while preserving valuable platform space for ministry.

"It's amazing to see how that LED wall was built custom fit to our building."

Solving Design Challenges

Mid-Way Baptist envisioned large-format LED displays that would create an immersive visual backdrop without overwhelming their relatively compact platform. At the same time, they wanted to improve audience sightlines and address long-standing challenges with an aging audio system that had never provided consistent coverage throughout the approximately 1,000-seat sanctuary.

Working alongside church leadership, Paragon 360 developed a solution that relocated the baptistry from the center rear wall to a new floor-mounted location on stage left, opening the platform for a dramatic custom LED backdrop while also allowing the front of the stage to be reconfigured for improved visibility from every seating section. The accompanying audio redesign replaced the existing system with a purpose-built solution engineered specifically for the room, delivering balanced coverage, and significantly improving speech intelligibility and musical performance.

Technology Designed for Performance

The new visual centerpiece features custom curved LED displays that complement the architecture of the platform while maximizing visual impact. A custom-curved center display was designed specifically to match the existing rear wall, accompanied by matching flat LED displays on each side to create a cohesive, high-resolution presentation environment.

To support worship, preaching, and special events, Paragon 360 designed and installed a new Fulcrum Acoustic loudspeaker system powered by an Allen & Heath dLive mixing platform. The loudspeaker system utilizes strategically positioned point-source arrays for consistent coverage, front-fill loudspeakers for improved imaging in the front seating areas, and cardioid subwoofers that provide powerful low-frequency performance while minimizing unwanted energy on the platform. The Allen & Heath dLive system—including an S7000 control surface, DM64 MixRack, remote stage racks, and Dante networking—provides exceptional audio quality today while offering the flexibility to support future growth and expanded production capabilities.

Built Around the Ministry

The transformation at Mid-Way Baptist is more than a technology upgrade—it is an investment in creating an environment where every message is clearly heard, every worship experience is more engaging, and the platform is equipped to serve the church for years to come. As Worship Pastor Trevor Thompson shared:
"One of the biggest comments we've heard has been the clarity of the audio—from the speaking, to the worship, to the choir. People can hear every instrument and every voice. It's clear and precise from the front of the room to the back."

Church leadership also reflected on the experience of working with Paragon 360:
"They made us feel like we were the most important client they had. What we wanted to accomplish became their highest priority, and that's exactly how the entire process felt."
