Silver Dollar City, (SDC) an 1880s-style theme park located near Branson, Missouri, is owned and operated by Herschend Family Entertainment (HFE). The park presents six world-class festivals each year from April through December. The 55-acre park has twelve stage venues, twenty two rides, twelve restaurants, sixty shops and over 1600 employees, including 100 resident craftsmen. But it began as an accessory to Marvel Cave. Paragon 360 is the primary supplier of audio, video and lighting services throughout its various park properties.
One of the center piece facilities at SDC is the 5,000 seat Echo Hollow Amphitheater. Paragon 360 updated the audio system for the amphitheater in 2016. This project had been in the discussion stages for several years. The system was designed and commissioned by Paragon 360’s lead Audio Designer, Mark Coble and was designed to handle sold out nightly in-house productions in addition to world-class special events such as concerts from national country touring artists, gospel shows, live ESPN tournaments and national cheerleading competitions just to name a few.
The speaker systems included Electrovoice’s Xi installation series and the new EVI dual 15 inch subwoofer system, all weatherproofed for this outdoor application. Electrovoice amplifiers and the Netmax DSP processing system were utilized to complete the signal chain. Avid digital house consoles were selected for the front end.
First use of the new system was for the annual Young Christians weekend in April, featuring a variety of top Christian acts from around the country. Nearly all of the visiting sound engineers utilized Avid’s ability to be run via iPad from the audience areas. The new system has received rave reviews from top HFE executives, guest artist’s as well as the industry top trade magazines.
