When Central States Industrial decided to upgrade their Springfield, Missouri-based headquarters with new audio and video conferencing technology, they turned to Paragon 360.
Paragon 360’s reputation as an innovative leader in AVL technology, combined with being locally-based near CSI, made for an ideal match and partnership. Beginning as a small company with a handful of employees 40 years ago, CSI now has 170 employees in five locations across the United States. In addition to their 80,000 square-foot headquarters in Springfield, CSI has distribution facilities in Fresno, CA, Durham, NC, Fort Worth, TX, and Knoxville, TN.
The system upgrades designed and installed by Paragon 360 focused on improving teleconferencing in CSI’s board room, as well as expanded capability and flexibility for in-house and remote training sessions in their training studio. The video conferencing and training systems in both rooms are centrally controlled by QSC’s Q-Sys platform, which handles all audio and video routing and processing, as well as all automation commands.
The Q-Sys system consists of a Core110f which takes care of all processing and automation, four of QSC’s remote robotic PTZ cameras, and the new I/O-USB Bridge. Three of Shure’s Microflex Advance MXA910 ceiling array microphones leverage the AES67 compatibility of Q-Sys to provide superior dynamic audio coverage of the rooms. Board Room meetings can utilize two 70” Sharp touchscreen displays, which were re-purposed from an earlier function. Training sessions can utilize one of two projection systems.
A Panasonic PT-RZ570 5,400 lumen laser projector can be used for large group training and can be projected on either a Da-Lite Tensioned Contour Electrol 133” diagonal motorized screen or a 16-foot long Da-Lite IDEA Panoramic whiteboard projection surface. For smaller classes or brainstorming sessions an Epson Brightlink 696Ui Ultra-short Throw projector is positioned above another 16-foot Da-Lite IDEA Panoramic whiteboard projection surface. All displays can independently have video from any of a number of local sources ranging from local PCs to Apple TV, or a Vivitek NovoPro wireless presentation system. The NovoPro allows up to four guest presenters to walk into the training room and be simultaneously presenting on the system within moments without being tied down by a wire.
All audio and video can be recorded for future use or routed to client PCs via USB from either the I/O-USB Bridge or the Core110f itself. The system connects to the PC as a generic sound card requiring no loading of drivers or software and provides the computer with a video input as well as stereo audio input and output. This allows the client to send high-quality audio and video to conferencing software such as Cisco’s WebEx or Facebook Live. These combined technologies and capabilities allow Central States Industrial to conduct business with clients and partners around the globe at the highest level.
"Paragon 360 once again exceeded expectations. Having worked with Paragon to remodel the auditorium at Seminole Baptist, I was confident they would provide an innovative A/V solution to meet CSI’s communication and training requirements. Their team is professional, technically skilled, and listened to our requests. Paragon has proven why they have a great reputation in the industry."
