Position Summary

The AVL Installer will be responsible for the professional and safe installation of projects. The individual must have a basic understanding of today’s audio, video, and lighting (AVL) systems and maintain a great, “willing to learn” attitude while always striving to improve in knowledge and efficiency. The individual must be able to read and understand design documents and construction drawings for installation purposes, and be comfortable working on lifts, on ladders, and in high places. The ability to follow directions, solve problems, work with others as a team, and have good social skills to interact well with clients and staff alike is a must. The individual would also be responsible for the preparation and packing of audio, video, lighting, and/or acoustical systems prior to their installation.

The person should be an excellent communicator that can work well in high stress situations and be a high-capacity self-starter with excellent client service skills. This is not an office job. There will be travel to associated jobsites. 

What Does This Job Entail

  • Installation of Audio, Video, and Lighting Systems to include soldering, rack building, terminations, rigging, mounting, circuiting, patching, focusing, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting systems.
  • Advancing projects by reviewing their scope and understanding required resources.
  • Prep work for projects in shop as required including loading and unloading trucks.
  • Excellent time management skills to work on and keep track of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Coordination throughout installation with installers, designers, and contractors. 
  • Conduct site visits/surveys to collect information to help advance the installation.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
  • Carry out work adhering to OSHA safety protocols and company procedures.
  • Assist with shop work as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Three to four years of AVL experience (preferred)
  • Valid Class E driver’s license and good driving record.
  • OSHA 30 card or a commitment to obtain that training within 60 days of hire.
  • AVIXA CTS required within 12 months of hire.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Ability to work back-to-back, 10-hour days and occasional longer days.
  • Must have a relatively flexible schedule.
  • Nationwide travel to jobsites,
    • On average 50-70 days a year
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills and use of standard Microsoft office software such as Office 365, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams. 
  • Basic understanding of PC systems.
  • Leadership skills: problem-solving in high stress environments; positive, professional, client friendly demeanor; verbal and written communication skills; comfortable delivering frequent direct written and oral feedback; time management; ability to multi-task.
  • Team player who values and adds to an excellent team culture.

Physical Demands of the Job

  • Must be able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to kneel, bend, stoop, push/pull, crouch, and balance for extended periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to and comfortable working in high places climbing ladders and scaffolding and working in lifts.
  • Must be able to lift and carry in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to and comfortable with work in high places and in small, cramped places in very dirty and dusty environments, hot humid places as well as cold places.
  • Must be able to use hands for grasping and fine manipulation.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak with positive attitude with ability to recall, remember and work well under stress for extended periods of time on a daily basis.
