Position Summary

The Prep Lead will play a vital role in ensuring the success of our projects by assisting in the preparation, setup, and testing of audio, light, and video equipment before installation. The individual must have a basic understanding of today’s AVL systems and maintain a great, “willing to learn” attitude while always striving to improve in knowledge and efficiency. The ability to follow directions, solve problems, work with others as a team and have good social skills to interact well with others is a must. The individual would also be responsible for the packing of audio, video, lighting, or acoustical systems prior to their installation.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Three (3) to four (4) years of AVL experience (preferred)
  • OSHA 30 card or a commitment to obtain that training within 90 days of hire
  • AVIXA CTS required within twelve (12) months of hire
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Valid Class E driver's license and good driving record
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, schematics, and construction documents
  • Must have a relatively flexible schedule
  • Proficient in basic computer skills and use of standard Microsoft Office software (Office 365, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Basic understanding of PC/Mac systems and networking
  • Leadership skills: problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills; comfortable delivering frequent direct written and oral feedback; time management; ability to multi-task
  • Team player who values and adds to an excellent team culture

What does this job entail

  • Preparation of Audio, Video, and Lighting systems to include soldering, proper rack building, terminations, circuiting, patching, programming, and troubleshooting systems
  • Conduct routine checks and testing of equipment to ensure functionality and performance standards are met
  • Advancing projects by reviewing their scope and understanding required resources
  • Prep work for projects in shop as required, including loading and unloading trucks
  • Excellent time management skills to work on and keep track of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Coordination throughout the process with installers, designers, and contractors
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment
  • Carry out work adhering to OSHA safety protocols and company procedures
  • Assist with shop work as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time on a daily basis
  • Must be able to kneel, bend, stoop, push/pull, crouch, and balance for extended periods of time on a daily basis
  • Must be able to lift and carry in excess of 50 pounds
  • Must be able to use hands for grasping and fine manipulation
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak with positive attitude with ability to recall, remember, and work well under stress for extended periods of time on a daily basis
